Veteran's Day Assembly 2008
This year's Veteran's Day Assembly was one of respect and decorum. Planning for the assembly was done by Mr. Grealish, the Senior Class, and the 'Classical Roadies'. Chris Lewis was the emcee (Master of Ceremonies ) and introduced the Vietnam's Veterans of America, Lynn Chapter #908, and the Lynn English HS R.O.T.C. Color Guard, who marched in to the National Anthem.
Dignitaries present included guest speaker Congressman John Tierney, State Representative Steven Walsh, City Councilor-at-Large Paul Crowley, School Committee member John Ford, Mayoral Assistant Mike Conlon, Senator McGee's Assistant Brendan Crighton, and Representative Pinnell's Aide Jeff Weeden. (Most of these men are Lynn Classical graduates.)
Chris Lewis did an excellent job as emcee. Michael Shea spoke of the history of Veteran's Day.
The ROTC Drill Team got a rousing applause as they demonstrated their Riflery Drill, They showed discipline and team work as they spun their weapons in the air, and moved them around with precision.
The Classical High School Chorus, led by Music Director Laura Weiss, gave a heartfelt performance during the Assembly. They sang the National Anthem, Down by the Riverside, Let There be Peace on Earth, Bridge Over Troubled Waters, and God Bless America.
Solos were performed by Junardy Jean-Charles, Jamal Huston, Angel Rodriguez, and Rachel Dunnighan.
Sean Rosenthal read a solemn poem and Katie Fitzgerald introduced and spoke of our Veterans.
Principal White spoke of the great work Congressman Tierney does for the district and the country in the U.S. House of Representatives. James Marconi introduced Congressman Tierney.
Congressman Tierney spoke of both the Honored and the Forgotten Soldiers of our wars.
Thanks again to Mr. Grealish, Chris Lewis, and the ROADIES.
