Veterans Day Assembly 2011

As expected, the Senior Class and Mr. Grealish put together a meaningful, reflective and interesting Assembly for the entire school on Thursday, 11/10/11.

Senior Class President Jordan Pena and VP Malcolm Leng-King hosted the event.

The National Anthem was sung beautifully by Catherine Murray.

Dignitaries and Honored Guests included Class of 2010 Alumni Kingsley Jean-Charles, Director Mike Sweeney from the  Lynn Veterans Office,  George Fitzberry of the  Lynn Veterans Council, Steve Smalley from Tom's Office, Emily Dulong from Representative Steve Walsh's Office, Gardy Jean- Francois from Mayor Kennedy's Office, Sgt. Prendergrass and Sgt. Adams from the Army STAR Program, Guest Speaker Army Lt. Julia Brigman and SSgt. Vonetta Benefield, plus Classical Speaker,Teacher and Veteran Ms. Morano.

Flag and Color Guards were members of the Classical STAR Program.

The Concert Choir sang the National Anthem to start the program.

Senior Dan White read the poem " The Bravest Person I Know".

 Both Naomi Alvarez  and Isaac Ardon read a Veterans Day poems. Calvin Ebeshiewa talked about the history of women in the military.

Moses Ramirez and Isaac Ardon played a modernized version of the National Anthem. It was an amazing performance by both musicians.

Commanding Officer Lisa Silva and 1st Sergeant Sergio Pirez introduced the STAR Marching Exhibition to the Assembly.

Guest Speaker Ms. Morano spoke fondly of her years in the service.

SSgt. Benefield spoke for Lt. Brigman who had laryngitis. She told of Lt. Brigman's time in the Army, which eventually paid for her to go to college and become an Army Nurse.

The Concert Choir returned to sing America the Beautiful, beautifully.

Principal Constantino graciously closed the Assembly .
