Lynn Summer Jobs 2011

The City of Lynn is now accepting applications for the 2011 Summer Jobs Program through May 27, 2011.

The program provides summer jobs for Lynn residents ages 16-21 in both the private and public sector for up to seven weeks beginning on or about July 5, 2011.

Applications are available in the Office of Economic and Community Development (OECD), Room 311 in Lynn City Hall or at cityoflynnoecd.net.

Attached is a copy of the application.  Please notice the bolded items on the second page of the application.

If a youth is eligible for either a free or reduced lunch and/or checks off any other of the bolded risk factors, he or she must complete the North Shore Youth Career Center’s (NSYCC) Summer Youth Employment package (available in OECD office and at NSYCC)  and set up a meeting at NSYCC which is located at 181 Union Street 2nd floor.  To be eligible to be hired by the City of Lynn this summer on the State funded Youthworks grant, the OECD must have received certification of eligibility from NSYCC by June 15, 2011.  While final funding amounts are pending it is expected that approximately two thirds of 2011 summer hires will come from the Youthworks grant.

The remaining one third of summer jobs will be funded by the Federal Community Development Block grant program which is weighted by family income levels but does not disqualify youth from higher income families.
