Senior Timeline - Planning for Your Future
TIMELINE FOR THE CLASS OF 2010
FIRST QUARTER
Graduation Requirements: Make sure you have credit and course requirements in
place. You must pass required course work and the MCAS ELA, Math and Biology exams
Schedule testing: ACT / SAT & SAT Subject Tests / TOEFL
Senior Interview Form: Fill out and return to Guidance
Senior Meeting: Make appointment with Guidance Counselor.
Review Procedures / Requirements:
Note important deadlines for: Admissions, Applications, and Scholarships.
Narrow College Choices: Talk with College reps; schedule campus visits.
*When scheduling a college visit during a school day, seniors must see their counselor for approval. Once approval has been given, submit a note from a parent to Mr. Constantino, at least one day before visit date. A verification note from the college must be sent to the Attendance Office.
***EARLY DECISION APPLICANTS NEED TO COMPLETE PACKETS BY DUE DATE.
SECOND QUARTER
Finalize Applications: Completed application, transcripts, resume, application fee, and
letters of recommendation. Visit college if interview required.
Financial Aid Applications:
1. Learn about applications, procedures, and deadlines.
2. Complete FAFSA / CSS Profile. (FAFSA cannot be submitted until Jan. 2010)
3. Apply to individual schools for aid.
Scholarships: Need based / Merit based. Continue looking for local and national.
Grades: Second quarter grades sent as requested.
THIRD QUARTER
Await Responses / Acceptances:
Inform Counselor of Acceptances / Rejection by bringing in the letter from the college and giving a copy to Guidance.
Make college choice.
· Consider housing options.
· Review financial aid awards.
· Discuss financing options with school.
SCHOLARSHIPS: Note deadlines and requirements.
FOURTH QUARTER
Take AP Exams
Notify Colleges of Decision by May 1: Send deposit. Arrange for final transcript to be sent.
Scholarships: Send thank you notes for any award given.
Financing: Decide on your financial options. Apply for loans.
