Red Cross Blood Drive 2009

We want your blood !

This year's Blood Drive was organized by Mr. Winchell and MS. Deegan and assisted by Ms. Cavanaugh. A helpful group of seniors stepped up to assist in screening potential donors. Big thanks to all the students and teachers who volunteered to donate needed blood. The list of donors is at the bottom of this page. Over 90 students volunteered to give blood.    One student had the special profile that allowed the Red Cross to take twice as many of his red platelets ( and none of his white cells)  for certain kinds of medical procedures.   Several students were disappointed to be turned away because they had a tattoo within the past year or traveled to one of the many countries that put people  on the “cannot donate “ list.  Most students found the experience interesting and the snacks good.  They look forward to donating again!

Volunteer Aides:

Below is a final list of those who donated blood. Some people came down, went through all the preliminary testing and questions but were not eligible due to weight (being too light), iron (in their blood), rapid pulse, or travel issues.
