Ronald Hobson, Lynn Classical's School Spirit MVP, discusses his interests.
Lynn Classical Environmental Club
This year one of our science teachers started our environmental club. The name of the teacher is Mr. Winchester. He has done a tremendous job of putting this club together. Before he worked at Lynn Classical High school, he worked at New England Aquarium in Boston for several years. It was an awesome opportunity for him to work with the sea animals, and get to know some very fascinating people who love animals like he does, and takes a great deal of interest in them. He currently works there during school vacations.
If you are going to study something it’s very important to understand the psychology and the history behind it. I personally feel that animals have every right to live, and have the right to express their individuality in any way that they please. Animals are people too you know. In life, everything is connected. It’s very important to be aware of the world that we are living in. Mr. Winchester is my best friend around the building and I have been awfully proud of him. He has accomplished so much in his life time. Nobody has his wit, or his spirit. He is very unique.
People don’t seem to understand how important it is to keep your surroundings in order. That’s why we have clubs, so that students can be aware about their community in our world. In life, it’s very important to keep an open mind about science. People, who are Scientists, see the world in a new light. Our Science teachers at Lynn Classical are very educated. And they try very hard to make science more easily understood for student.
I have written a lot of serious papers on our history about people like Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, and President Barrack Obama. Mr. Winchester is the first teacher I have written about.
The reason that I was so impressed with him is because Mr. Winchester represents the spirit of Lynn Classical High School.
As his friend, I have learned so much from Mr. Winchester. He’s like a second dad to me. He always makes me very proud. He takes a great deal of pride in our environment and teaching his classroom about science. He is so brilliant: he writes and articulates very well as an educator.
Before he leaves for the day, he makes sure that his animals are taken care of. Mr. Winchester has a lot of fishes, turtles, and snakes. What I love about these animals, is that they have nice clean water, so they can move around freely and peacefully. Who else has the compassion and love to take care of them?
As his helper, I try very hard to make sure that his room is nice and clean for him and his animals, because they deserve to be in a nice classroom. If I were a Teacher, I would be more like him. I love his teaching style, because he is such a wonderful free spirit, and a very nice man, and he is always wearing very nice ties. Of all of the Teachers in the school, I like the way he thinks the best. He is so open to new ideas, and very open-minded, and he cares about making our world a better place. How could you not love a person for that?
David Winchester has been teaching passionately for a long time, here and at the Aquarium. He has a very creative side too. People like that are very expressive. I really respect and admire the person that he is. His students learn so much about his animals. He is very popular, and a friend to everybody around the building. My first year of Lynn Classical High School, there was a nice story about Mr. Winchester helping out the science fair: how he pitched in, and made a difference for those children to appreciate the value of science.
He has been a great influence on me as a young man trying to find my way in the world. I feel it’s very important to have role models and positive people in your life because it helps us be successful.
We should all give him our support and gratitude of putting this Club together. Yes, Mr. Winchester is a true hero in many ways at Lynn Classical High School.
I feel, if you have a really good friend, it’s very important to bring out the best in them. It makes them feel special. If they are doing outstanding work, you always want to remind them they are making a difference in the world. That’s why I wanted to focus this article on Mr. Winchester and our Environmental Club.
Thank you
Ronald Hobson
