Saving a Dying Species...

Mr. Winchester, above, is our Marine Biology
teacher at Classical High School. He has brought Environmental
Science right into his classroom, raising almost-extinct turtle
hatchlings for return to their habitat. We are honored and
appreciative to have such a great mentor as Mr. Winchester in
our school. (He also works with the New England Aquarium.)

Last Friday we had a special Guest Speaker, Bryan Windmiller, who is the scientist in charge of the Massachusetts Great Meadows Blanding's Turtle Conservation Project. This assembly, which the Environmental Club, the Science Club and the Science Dept. hosted, filled the auditorium. The Blanding Turtle, local to our area, is in danger of extinction.
