Hispanic Heritage Assembly
10/12/2011 page 1
The second annual Hispanic Heritage month assembly took place on Wed. Oct. 12th.
This year’s assembly was developed around the theme “the cornerstones of our community’. We chose a policeman, Domingo Polonia, a Fireman, Israel Gonzalez and a Teacher, Marilyn Klinker to represent our Hispanic community in this endeavor. Their inspiring speeches touched us all.
We were able to showcase the many talented Hispanic students as well as faculty. Ms. Ramos gave a heartfelt rendition of the national Anthem as well as ‘Carnaval” by Celia Cruz. The singing performances were backed by a PowerPoint presentation of the artist portrayed.
From Sept. 15 to Oct. 15 celebrations across the our nation are common. Thanks to President Bush, who felt the need to acknowledge nationally the constant growth of the Hispanic population.
We thank all that attended and participated, and can’t wait to see next year’s performance.
