Guidance List of Scholarships for Class of 2010

Don't forget - Scholarship applications will be available soon from the Alumni Association of LCHS and from direct Lynn Classical HS Scholarships.

SENIORS: PLEASE PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO DEADLINES ON ALL SCHOLARSHIPS AND COLLEGE APPLICATIONS.  IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOU HAVE THEM IN ON TIME!!!  CHECK OUT THE SCHOLARSHIP BOARD IN GUIDANCE ASAP!!!

 MANY COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES OFFER THEIR OWN SCHOLARSHIPS.  CHECK OUT THEIR WEBSITES FOR MORE INFO!!!

A counselor is available from Educational Talent Search (ETS) in the Guidance Office on Monday, Tuesday & Thursday for one on one counseling regarding filling out applications, financial aid forms, and planning for college or careers.  See Mr. Srey, the ETS advisor, for an application.

SCHOLARSHIPS:

5/4/10 – L.C.H.S GUIDANCE DEPT. SCHOLARSHIP – Criteria:  Must be accepted to a 2 or 4 year college.  SAT, GPA, and Rank info required. 

5/4/10 – YORUBA COMMUNITY OF MASS SCHOLARSHIP – Criteria:  Applicant must demonstrate a commitment to excellence, community service, and plan to attend college in 2010-2011 academic year.

5/5/10 – COMMUNITY BROTHERHOOD & AUXILIARY SCHOLARSHIP – Criteria:  Must be of African American descent, have a minimum GPA of 2.0, and be able to provide a letter of acceptance for the college you plan to attend.

5/5/10 – ESTHER HAWKS SCHOLARSHIP – Criteria:  Awards are need based but also consider academic achievement.  Applicant must submit a copy of your SAR.

5/7/10 – DAVID “DAVEY” CAMERON Scholarship – Criteria:  Must submit an essay.

5/7/10 – CITY OF LYNN DEPARTMENT HEADS SCHOLARSHIP – Criteria:  Based on Academics and financial need.

5/7/10 – L.C.H.S ALUMNI AND FRIENDS SCHOLARSHIP – Criteria:  Must be attending a 4 year college or university.  50 to 100 word essay required.

5/14/10 – LEAGUE OF ESSEX COUNTY SPORTSMEN’S CLUBS, INC. SCHOLARSHIP – Criteria:  Must be studying in one of the fields listed on the application.

5/14/10 – LYNN SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS ASSOC. SCHOLARSHIP – Criteria:  Based on school and community participation.  Essay required. 

5/14/10 – UUCGL COMMUNITY SERVICE SCHOLARSHIP – Criteria:  Applicant must demonstrate financial need, are of a minority race, are first-generation college students, have a proven record of commitment to community and/ or social action.

5/15/10 – CHARLES AND BETTY DEMAKIS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP – Criteria:  Applicant or parent / legal guardian must be a member of the Community Credit Union.  Applicant must be accepted to an accredited 4 year college.  Scholarship is based on SAT scores, class rank, G.P.A, and length of membership as a percentage of age.

5/15/10 – LYNN ADMINISTRATORS SCHOLARSHIP – Criteria:  Based on academics and school and community participation.  Completed applications must be submitted to the Guidance Office by 5/15/10. 

5/15/10 – HUMANE SOCIETY OF THE  U.S. SHAW-WORTH  MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP – Criteria:  Applications should be in letter form and should include a narrative of the student’s achievements in animal protection, as well as a discussion of his or her attitude toward animals.  3 letters of recommendation required.

5/21/10 – AGNES FOLLEN SCHOLARSHIP – Criteria:  Applicant must be a graduate of Breed Middle School.  Must submit 12 completed copies of your scholarship packet.

5/22/10 – PINE HILL CIVIC ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP – Criteria:  Parent or guardian must be a current paid member of the association for the past 2 years. 

5/27/10 – MICHAEL J. CONLON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP – Criteria:  Applicant must be a varsity athlete, excellent school citizen, outstanding achiever in the classroom, and an integral member of the community.

6/4/10 – MILITARY FRIENDS FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP – Criteria:  Must have a parent or guardian deployed overseas with the Massachusetts National Guard or Reserve.  Go to www.militaryfriends.org/patriotscholar to apply.
