Class of 2007 Lynn Classical HS Graduation  - June 1st

It was a warm Friday morning, the first day of June, at 9am, when the doors to the Classical gymnasium opened and hundreds of family and friends started trickling in. Seating was  by invitation only, although over 1600 people would be present for the ceremonies.

The early birds get the best seats.

The Guidance Counselors prepare: "OK, we've got the balloons, flowers, diplomas... OOPS, where are the students?"

We also honored retiring teachers Barbara Smuckler, Patricia Makseyn, William Mahoney, Janet Parini, and (busy with Graduation preparations) Richard Ruth for their almost 200 years of service to public education.

The Ruth Family came to see our Athletic Director graduate for the last time.

Above and below are the Honorable Dignitaries.

The front row started filling up, with Mayor Clancy, Superintendent of Schools Kostan, State Senator McGee, State Reps Fennell and Walsh, School Committee members Capano, Ford, Coppola, and Newhall, other Lynn dignitaries, and our own Principal, Mr. White. We appreciated Dr. Frost's presence, who was the principal when the Class of 2007 arrived here four years ago.

It was great to see Valedictorian Minela Gacanovic, Salutatorian Jazmine Ramirez, and Class Marshall Melissa Suon up on the podium during the Graduation Exercises. These three young women had strived for academic excellence through all four years at Classical, encouraging  each other to attain solid "A+" grades, in a competition that made them all winners, for now and in their future.

Our Senior Class Officers

...and here come the graduates.

At 9:30am, the classic song "Pomp and Circumstance" started playing while the Senior Class of 2007 marched through the center aisle and into their seats.
