Forensics Class 2011 - Fingerprint Retrieval
Mr Henkenmeier and his CSI investigators work hard to find useable fingerprints on the bottles found mysteriously near the school. They plan to cross-match the prints with the FBI's Computer Fingerprint Match program and catch the unidentified suspect. The reward should make them all rich...... or is this just another dream sequence.
Actually, the Forensics class has been studying fingerprints. We started with why we have them, the main classifications of patterns and the three main types of prints left behind at a crime scene. The class then used printer’s ink and pads to roll their own prints onto cards and then they identified which pattern they had. The photos show them practicing dusting prints. We used white fingerprint powder and green bottles because the dusted prints show up very well in contrast. When we return from break the students will use glass slides and black powder to not only dust their prints but they will also use tape to lift and transfer their prints off the surface and onto an index card.
