Earth  Day  2008

Students who planted trees on Earth Day last week supervise the planting of new trees at the High School.

Earth Day was originated in 1970.  Earth Day is the only event celebrated simultaneously around the globe by people of all backgrounds, faiths and nationalities. More than a half billion people participate. The mission is to grow and diversify the environmental movement worldwide, and to mobilize it as the most effective vehicle for promoting a healthy, sustainable planet.

History Department teacher Frank Grealish mobilized many seniors (from Sociology class, Senior class, and the Global Warming Club)  to sign up to participate in the Earth Day event that took place at Lynn Woods on Sat. April 26th.  Considering that this was during school vacation time, the amount of students and the size of the cleanup area, the day was a great success !

Students planted trees, cleaned up glass and trash, and shared free goodies from Starbucks and Paminos Pizza. There was live music provided by local musicians. Next year, don't miss this fun day !
