Dodgeball Challenge 2009 - Teachers vs Students

What will the Senior Class do next to put some money in their bank account ? It better not be a Snowball Fight or a game called Dunk-the-Teacher in the Water. It turned out that the teachers were just a little bit out of shape, since no one showed up at the scheduled 5:00am exercise classes or the 6:00am Dodgeball practice sessions.

The teacher roster for the game was very skimpy on Monday before Thanksgiving. But the rumor was out  that Mr. Grealish and Mr. Winchester were semi-professional Dodgeball players, and may even have been extras in the movie "Dodgeball: a True Underdog Story".

That proved false once the game started. They were both big targets for the sleek and well-dressed student team. The most surprising player of the game was Mr. Winchell who brought his whole family to cheer him on. Compact but stout, Mr. Winchell moved like a stealth fighter, knocking out the best of the students many times.

Two other players, Mr. Cullinane and Mr. Hellwig looked like they were performing gymnastic floor exercises as they rolled and swayed to avoid being hit. But the biggest surprise on the teachers side was Ms. Minchello, who fed balls to the front men until they were knocked out, then fought off the swarming student team for a long time at the end of each game.

The game got so exciting that Mr. Brass put down his website camera for a minute to come in as a substitute. Unfortunately, he remembered too late that he had a rotator cuff injury on his shoulder and couldn't even throw the ball over the mid-line. Now that was embarrassing.

The teachers were hoping that court referee Dr. Harutunian would help out his buddies a little bit, but Dr. H was fair to all, a big problem for the teachers who needed more help than a fair game.

Meanwhile what was Mr. Washington, the organizer of the Dodgeball game,  doing during all this. He was seen in the corner of the gym, smiling and laughing every time Mr. Grealish got knocked off the court.

The teachers help each other stretch before the start but it really didn't help.

The student team had secret plans to throw all their balls at one teacher at a time, and it worked.

The crowd was excited and ready for the games to begin.

Senior President Kingslay , Dr H., and Mr. W. were happy about the fact they didn't have to play.
