Class of 2009 Timeline
First
Quarter
- Look
at your classes, credits, G.P.A. and activities and make sure they reflect
what you want to show to college representatives and employers.
1. Graduation
Requirements:
English (4 yrs.), Physical Education (2yrs),
U.S. History 1 & 2, and have 100 credits
(25 during your senior year).
- Schedule
SAT Reasoning/Subject tests, ACT tests & TOEFL
- Practice
for your SAT, there are books available in the library and the College Board
website has online practice tests to help get you ready. www.collegeboard.com
- Fill
out Senior Interview Form if you haven’t done so already.
- Make
appointment with your guidance counselor for Senior Interview.
- Sign-up
for tutoring with your Guidance Counselor.
Do not wait until it is too late!!
- Ask
teachers, who know you well and think highly of you to write Letters of
Recommendation for college and/or employment.
- Check
LCHS Website for upcoming dates and times for college visits and fairs.

- Take
your SAT/ACT Tests, Be sure to be well rested and prepared so you don’t
have any extra stress the day of the test! You Can Do It!
- Narrow
College Choices and Start your Applications.
- Be
aware of deadlines, especially if you have plans to apply for Early Action
or Early Admissions.
- Sign
up for November SAT/ACT if you are trying to improve your scores.
Second Quarter
- Finalize
Applications: Completed Applications, Transcripts, Resume, Application Fee
or Waiver, and Letters of Recommendation.
- Financial
Aid Applications:
1.
Learn about applications, procedures, and deadlines.
2.
Complete FAFSA/ CSS Profile.
3.
Apply to Individual Schools for Aid
4.
Check out the TRIO program and see if they can help you with that.
- Research
and apply for scholarships. Guidance will be starting a Scholarship Board in
December and refreshing the applications regularly as deadlines pass and new
scholarships become available. Read
Applications Carefully !
- Second
Quarter Grades are sent as requested.
- If
you haven’t passed the MCAS note the dates of the November Retest.
Third Quarter
·
Await College Responses/Acceptances and make sure to
inform your Guidance Counselor about Acceptances/Rejections by bringing in your
letters.

Consider
housing options.
2.
Review & Discuss financial aid awards with your family.
3.
Discuss financing options with school.
February
- Register
and study for the SAT and ACT exams.
- Start
investigation private scholarships, organizations that your family is
affiliated with and other student aid programs.
March
- Register
for the SAT Reasoning and/or Subject Tests and any other exams, if you
haven’t already done so. Continue
to study for your exams.
- Scheduling
for Grade 12 begins. See your
teachers and/or Department Heads for recommendations for Honors and AP
courses.
- Sign
up for College Fair at the Bay State College Fair.
- If
you are still working on passing that final MCAS Subject be aware of
upcoming testing.
April
- April
vacation is a great time to visit colleges; they are not on vacation so you
can get an idea of what the campus is like in full swing.
- Have
a family discussion about college costs and financial options.
It’s never too early to prepare/ invest for your future.
May/ June
- If
you are still working on passing that final MCAS Subject be aware of
upcoming testing.
- Take
the SAT/ACT and any Advanced Placement Exams that you are signed up
for.
- Register
to take the SAT & ACT exams in your
senior year
July/August
- Enjoy
your summer !!!! Continue to visit colleges, do your summer
reading/assignments, work part-time, save some money and try to RELAX
