Classical vs Beverly 2/5/2008

This was an important game last night. Winning meant a ticket to play in the State Tournaments coming up. But Beverly had just won a string of games against good opponents. Coach Sawyer expected this to be a difficult game.

Another difficulty this season was which sneakers to wear. Some teams all wear the same, others let players wear their own favorite sneakers. The following two photos show our team's two favorite choices. Which do you like best ?

Sorry, we got off-track there for a minute. Hey, here's our Varsity Basketball Cheerleading Team, which is a Classical Sport. They practice, they go to Competitions, and they work hard during the Boys Basketball games.

OK, let's get back to the game. Starting with warm-ups, let's see how good the players form is when they go for a layup. A basketball player needs to have a good vertical leap, getting the body high above the ground when shooting, going for a rebound, or playing defense. Our team certainly looks like they have excellent vertical leap.

The opposing Coaches greet each other before the start of the game.

Athletic Director Bill Devlin introduces the players and asks for good sportsmanship from the fans.

The National Anthem is played.

A Circle of Concentration is formed by the team.

Coach Sawyer gives final instructions to the starting five.

The game is on !

Classical breaks the ice and scores first...
