A little catching up to do.....
At his own expense, Craig Castleman purchased & monogrammed fleece jackets for his two students who helped manage delivery of supplies to teachers. These students are proud members of Classical’s Student Supply Team.
Paulina Metili, Class of 2004, has graduated from University of Rochester and is pursuing a PhD in petrochemical engineering.
Tom Stanley (A304) received a fleece monogrammed “Best Home Room Teacher” from his 2008 Mentoring class.
Lyle Henkenmeier/Hank (A302) received a framed photograph of his 2008 Mentoring class.
Joanne Wortman, Harry Harutunian, and Sue Cooper went to the 2008 Senior Prom in style. They dined with a senior and rode to the event with him in his limousine.
Despite the fact that the company was concerned that his language skills were limited, Zjelko Mitrovic, 2005, got a job at a computer company, in part, due to the strong letter of recommendation written by Classical Computer Teacher, Steve Brass. Today, Zjelko is manager of his department.
During Christmas, 2008, Classical personnel sponsored 90 Gregg House children. At a conservative $100/ child, Classical quietly contributed $9,000 to local needy.
In memory of Jody Sisson, a Classical cafeteria employee who was tragically killed several years ago, Monitor Betty Jo Morrison and the “Lunch Ladies” conduct fund-raisers for an annual scholarship which gives a minimum of $500 to a Classical graduate.
Recent graduating classes have exceeded 300 students. If just 300 ask a teacher to write a recommendation and the average recommendation requires 2 hours to complete, then (using $35/hour which is current substitute pay) one can calculate that the graduating class is receiving a $21,000 gift from the faculty.
Alex Rittershaus, Class of 2008, was the only Freshman on Suffolk University’s prize-winning Mock Trial Team. Alex was captain of Frank Grealish’s nearly prize-winning 2008 Classical Mock Trial Team.
Peter Spiliokos’ review of the book The Forgotten Man will be published in the Spring 2009 issue of Prospectives on Political Science.
Jessica Leong, Class of 2002, is currently Congressman Tierney’s Liason in his Washington, DC office.
