Lynn-Groups of students "kept it real," at Classical High School Thursday night as part of the senior class' Raw Talent Jam.
The event, called "Keeping it real," showcased the students' raw talents, including acts such as mime performances, soloists singing their original work, belly dancers, comedians, dance groups and a step squad.
"The kids have been working on this show for months and deserve recognition for their hard work," said teacher Barbara Ann Greer, who helped develop the event.
"The talent is truly unbelievable. The show is packed with entertainment. (It's) our very own American Idol contest. (This is a) remarkable event that I'm so proud to be a part of."
Thursday's show included 10 acts, from which four acts were selected to compete in the final round on Friday, April 30, at 7 p.m., where cash prizes will be awarded.
Ten different acts will perform tonight at 7 in the Classical High Auditorium, and four acts from that show will be selected to go on to the final round as well.
All shows cost $5 and tickets may be purchased at the door. Half the proceeds from all shows will benefit Jobs for Bay State Graduates, Inc., JBSG, is a non-profit organization that implements two highly successful school-to-work transition programs in the city of Lynn, as well as 17 programs across the state. JBSG prepares high school students for their futures by providing them with skills training and career exploration opportunities including job shadowing, internships, career-oriented curricula and community involvement.
After high school, students are provided with a full 12 months of assistance and ongoing support as they pursue quality employment opportunities, higher education, and/or additional training. The other half of the proceeds will benefit the "In the Making" Performing Group. James Runner III, alumni from Lynn Classical High School, created his Step Squad/Dance Troop four years ago. His group is made up of teenage girls and boys, who put on small performances at conferences, and school assemblies.  ITM gives them an opportunity to showcase the art of Step Dancing as a multi-cultural positive outreach to the society of Lynn. This program is based out of the Boys & Girls Club of Lynn.
