THE STORYTELLER IS BACK - - - WITH A VENGEANCE, TO HELP YOU !
Jack Dalton, Alaskan storyteller, returned to the Classical High School Library this week due to the generosity of the Essex County Community Foundation Hardscrabble Grant. The writing workshop is blooming into many forms for the students of Mrs. Cushing, Mr. Duryea, Mr. Holbrook, Mrs. Honor, Mrs. Driscoll, Mrs. Hoyt and Mr. McQueen. Many students are creating illustrated children’s books. Mrs. Hoyt, who is also an art teacher, taught them how to make two different styles of handcrafted books for their tales. Other students are writing novellas and graphic novels. Some brave students are exploring the performance arts by becoming storytellers under the tutelage of Mr. Dalton. Additional students are writing scripts for a performance to be videotaped while more are putting their tales to the music of rap. We look forward to the finished performances and products.
IT'S NICE TO SEE THESE STUDENTS AND TEACHERS ACTIVELY ENGROSSED IN THEIR SCHOOL WORK.
Good luck to all the new Storytellers, we look forward to hearing your stories !
