Martin Luther King, Jr. / Holiday Assembly

January 23, 2009

The winter snows cancelled our Holiday Concert just before December Vacation, so it was rescheduled to today. Because of Mid-Year Exams, we also had to wait until today to commemorate the life of Martin Luther King, Jr. It was great to see the entire school together again although we are looking forward to the Freshmen Class being back at the O'Callaghan Way building in September.

Katie Fitzgerald was the Master of Ceremonies today (when she wasn't singing.)

Chastity Mathurin read her Award-Winning MLK Essay, which was poignant and well-researched. Cassandra Murkinson then read an appropriate poem called "Freedom".

Ms Weiss, our Musical Director, organized a lively Concert including the Jazz Band, the Concert Choir, the School Chorus, the A Capella Ensemble, and Soloists.

Performing admirably in the Jazz Band today was Chris Cole, David Gonzalez, Vania Aguilar, Cara Garrity, Jen Murray, and Donald Nong.

Soloists included Julianna Davis, Samantha Sims, Eric Brito, Jason Diamond and Rachel Dunigan.
