Home Sweet Home, Geometry-Style

Mr. Kennedy teaches Geometry in the Math Department. Recently, he wanted to have his students understand and be able to apply the concepts of perimeter, area, volume, and surface area. So he assigned them to design and build a HOUSE PROJECT.  Mr. Kennedy asked the students to view the building from various perspectives: from above, from a front view, side view, and finally a 3-dimensional view. Over time, the students designed floor plans for each room of the house.

The students made architectural plans as they went deeper into the project. Finally, they were asked to construct the house in 3 dimensional form. They also had to include a table showing all the calculations of area, perimeter, volume, and surface area.

Here are the results. (Many of the roofs can open up to show the interior size and structure.)
