LCHS vs Salem H.S.--2 / 4 / 04
LCHS HONORS SENIORS AT LAST HOME GAME OF THE 2003-2004 SEASON
Salem.... by Justina Alicudo
With
the season winding down, the Lady Rams made an extreme effort last night to
maintain a stronger grasp of the NEC title for 2003-2004, not to mention the
possibility of an undefeated season. With
several non-routine activities occurring during the pre-game, the girls managed
to remain focused and play their game. Those
activities consisted of a presentation to the seniors due to the last home game
of the regular season, and also the unveiling of Monique Lee’s name on the
1000th point banner. Once
these “ceremonies” were finished the game began.
Starting out strong with a 10 point lead, the girls appeared ready to
send Salem home dissatisfied. This
did not last long however. The
Witches managed to bring the Ram’s lead down to a bare minimum and eventually
tied the game at the half. During
the second half, Classical put on a show! The
defense applied by Takeya Faison and Paula McGinn was phenomenal.
Combined together they had at least 10 steals, not to mention several
blocks by Faison on Salem’s key 3-point shooter. The girls played hard defense, which created the offense they
needed to win. Last night, the
little things made the big things happen.
The Lady Rams will travel to Gloucester tomorrow night.
the last game against Gloucester was the most intense game for Classical
this season. An overtime victory
was achieved. Come support the
girls Friday night at the home of the Fishermen!
