The Season of Giving
The LPS Children's Holiday Fund
For more than ten years, from November through December, the face of the Main Office at Classical High School, Coula Kesanlis, goes into high gear.
She works with various departments around the city and hundreds of donors and volunteers. This year, the LPS Children's Holiday Fund is helping almost 90 families in need with age-appropriate toys plus winter clothing (coats, hats, scarfs, and gloves.) Children write down their wish list of toys while parents or guardians add clothing items needed ( with sizes.)
At the same time, almost the entire faculty at Classical contributes to the fund. Many teachers adopt a family to shop for. Many Classical clubs and organizations also help. Cobbett Elementary faculty, City Hall and City Departments, and Garelick Farms employees gave needed assistance this year. Once all the purchasing is done, the big job of gift-wrapping is started. Finally, each child's numerous items are bagged and ready for distribution. Thanks to Coula - - - and a lot of caring people.

Two wrapping and bagging rooms behind the front office at Classical are full by December 17th.
