CLASSICAL LAW DAY 4/29/10

During the Law Day Assembly led by Peter Rondeau, students from Classical gathered in the Auditorium to learn more about Law, and also why it was important.  We had important guests of honor join us, like the newly elected Mayor of Lynn, Mrs.  Judith Kennedy, one of our Mock Trial Coaches, Mrs. Kerman, and not to forget our principal, Mr. Constantino.  The Law Day Assembly was also held in honor of the Lynn Classical Mock Trial Team.  Peter Rondeau greeted everyone with some opening remarks which followed by the pledge of Allegiance.  Larry Cheung gave us a taste of Mock Trial sessions by presenting his opening statement of the 2010 Mock Trial civil case.  It was then followed by Pentelis Thomadis who told us of the importance of law and what would happen in its absence.  To show what good and bad examples of lawyers, a video clip from the movie “My Cousin Vinny” was shown and it gave the audience something to laugh at.

Mr. Grealish then stepped on stage and explained the  importance of Law Day and Mock Trial.  We then  welcomed Mayor Mrs. Kennedy, who gave an inspiring speech on Law Day and her experiences with law since she is a lawyer.  Mrs. Kerman was then invited to the stage where she acknowledged the Mock Trial Team and with the assistance of Mayor Kennedy, the Mock Trial Students were awarded Certificates from the Massachusetts Bar.  It was an honor to all the Mock Trial students to receive their Certificates from the mayor herself.  The Certificates were presented to the Lynn Classical Mock Trial Team for a very good run in the competition.  The Lynn Classical Mock Trial Team went up to the Sweet Sixteen position in all the competitions out of 120+ teams state wide.  Mr. Constantino gave the closing remarks honoring the Mock Trial Team, thanking the Mayor for coming, and the well behaved audience.  The Mock Trial Team would like to thank Judge David Kerman, His wife Mrs. Kerman, and Mr. Grealish for exceptionally coaching us exceptionally and helping the team make it to the competition's Sweet Sixteen Level.
