My First Day of High School !!

Through the rain we came at 7:45am, 355 new students to Classical High School. First, we were brought into the large Auditorium to meet Principal Constantino and VP's Dunn and Thompson. We were then split up into Mentoring  Room groups of about 25 students and walked up the stairs to our new home. The Mentoring teachers led us through registration, class schedules, and we took a short tour of the school. Hello, this place has almost 1400 students.

After filling out  important papers and being given some to take home and get signed, we went back to the Auditorium. The Vice Principals talked to us about teacher expectations, our responsibilities, and Discipline Do's and Dont's, especially the dress code, use of cell-phones, cutting classes or school. Some Senior Class leaders and Football Team members spoke to us about their experiences and how they have grown during high school. Then we were each given a book on Success in High School and our first assignment in the book. We were also introduced to the Department Heads and some of our Freshmen teachers.

At 11:00am, we went to lunch. The cafeteria is huge with flags hanging from all over the world. After lunch, we split up into groups with our new Guidance Counselors. Everyone kept telling us if we worked hard, we had the chance to go to college, and we could have a very successful life.

Surprise, after this meeting we had an Ice Cream Social in the caf.  Cool.

Later, we all met with the Athletic Department and Coaches. Classical has 22 sports programs plus informal activities all year round and encourages everyone to try out and join a team. We also met with the teachers who run the After-School Clubs and Organizations. There are about 20 of those and they sound great. Finally, we played 'Simon Says' with the whole class.

Wonder what's happening tomorrow...
