LCHS Girls Basketball Team
The 2002-2003 Season
The Lynn Classical girls varsity basketball team once again finished up with a successful season. The 2002-2003 team reached an amazing goal of making it further than the previous year in the State Tournament. Besides having the accomplishment of being one of the top teams in the Northeast Conference, along with Salem, Gloucester, and Marblehead, the Lady Rams had easy victories against Malden and Cambridge in the State Tournament. The season ended when the girls had a tough loss in a close game to Andover, who eventually went on to win the Division 1 State Championship.
Although the teams dream
of playing at the Fleet Center in the State Finals came to an end this year,
there are great expectations from the teams returning players. The team only
loses 3 seniors captain Courtney Ferrari, Lisa Gheringhelli, and Katie
Abernathy. Returning players include All-Star Takeya Faison (junior), All-Star
Monique Lee (junior), standout point guard Justina Alicudo (junior), key 3-point
shooter Mary Baldini (junior), forward Nicole Zukowski (junior), and Paula
McGinn, who is one of the best defensive players in the conference. The two
skilled freshmen, forward Meaghan Reddy and guard Ashley Donovan will also
return and contribute to the 2003-2004s teams success.
